Inn Valley Motorway (A12, A13 - Toll road); Exit: Zillertal. Take Federal Highway B169 to Mayrhofen; then the Tux Road to Hintertux. (From Motorway exit to Hintertux approx 31 mi/50km)
It is well cleared and spread with gravel in winter. Snow chains are required when new snow falls. Max. vertical clearance in avalanche galleries 4.2m.

TRAIN

Jenbach / Tirol express train station, Zillertalbahn (train or bus) to Mayrhofen; Post bus service Mayrhofen - Hintertux. Further information on timetables can be found at the course information.

Erlebnis Sennerei Zillertal Dairy & Show Farm

What is made from milk and how does it get into the carton,...?
Adults and children can experience the entire hay milk production path at the ErlebnisSennerei Zillertal Dairy. Children can see how cheese is made at the Show Dairy, where it matures and how it is looked after, how filling machines work and much more. 

A film is screened in the Show Farm barn, which shows how milking functions and why hay milk is so valuable! But at the end of the day, discovering what the animals get up to in real life is even more interesting - and there is plenty of opportunity for doing just that. Cows, sheep, chickens and the goats in particular are inherently curious and will come and nuzzle visitors, hoping for some attention. Another film can be seen at the Bee Pavilion – over one million bees live at the Show Farm and love buzzing around the many flowers all around!

Nature's Ice Palace at the Hintertux Glacier

Nature’s Ice Palace at the Hintertux Glacier is a natural gem, unique worldwide and an ideal year round excursion destination for the whole family. The entrance to this ice cave is only a 3 to 4 minute walk from the top station of the glacierbus 3 lift.

On guided tours, visitors are asked to „Step inside” to this wonderful world deep beneath the ski slopes and discover a glacial crevasse with magical ice stalactites, giant sparkling ice crystals, frozen waterfalls and even a glacial lake.

Spruce Tree Castle on the Rosenalm

Every childhood is a time of wonder and enchantment. In the Spruce Tree Castle children and their families, together with the little Spruce Sprites, can discover that magic again.

Guests, both children and ‘kids at heart’, can now enjoy a world of fun and adventure clambering on the climbing tower, sliding down the tower chute and ‘working’ in the crane tower. The breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains is best enjoyed from the 18 metre-high viewing tower. In addition to a vast water-play area and an adventure playground, budding little builders can carry on the work of the Spruce Sprites in the builders’ hut and crane. There are also numerous idyllic spots in which to rest, relax and unwind, making a summer holiday in the Zillertal Arena even more enjoyable!

JENBACH MUSEUM

The museum with its 700 m2 floor space and 19 rooms is dedicated to the following themes, showing exhibits, photographs, and documents:
Industry: scythe manufacture, Jenbacher Werke, trains
Nature: butterflies, birds, fungi, snails, shells
Sport: alpine and winter sport
History: Jenbach, important people from Jenbach, the South Tyrol "Option" of 1939

ACHENSEE STEAM COG RAILWAY

The world's oldest steam-powered cog rail trains are over 117 years old. Whistling locomotives, hissing and steaming vents, pounding pistons, and hammering exhaust bursts guarantee an unforgettable steam train experience. Starting at the Jenbach train station, the journey to the Achensee takes 45 minutes and overcomes a gradient of 16 %. The Achensee is the largest lake of the Tyrol. There is a direct connection to the ships on the Achensee.

TRATZBERG CASTLE

A majestic romantic fortress, Tratzberg Castle sits atop a massive rock ledge and commands a breathtaking view of the Inn valley. It has already servered Emperor Maximilian I. and the Fuggers as a hunting lodge and since 1848 it has been the private property of the Counts Enzenberg. The castle is considered one of the most beautiful Late-Gothic castles in Europe and the tour of the castle is not only historically fascinating, but unusual also in its richly entertaining character.

ZILLERTAL ALPINE ROAD

The Zillertaler Höhenstraße is one of the most beautiful alpine roads in Austria and offers all visitors a magnificent journey up to altitudes of 2,020 metres above sea level by car, with the bus up to Melchboden or even on your bike.

RATTENBERG

Close by the Inn river, the medieval city of Rattenberg - the smallest in Austria - hugs the mountainside. Its 600 inhabitants live in restored town houses. Rattenberg is also called the "Glass City", offering everything that makes glass beautiful: engraved and painted glass, crystal glass, dishes, cups, bowls, etc. You can also watch glassblowers demostrate their skills.

WOLFSKLAMM ST. GEORGENBERG

Why not try an adventerous walk through this canyon? You will certainly enjoy nature at its best here.

GRAVEYARD MUSEUM "WITHOUT THE DEAD"

A trip to the city of Rattenberg is ideal for a visit of the so-called "exemplary cemetary". This cemetary "without the dead", which has been put together with a lot of hard work by the Guggenberger Family, beautiful examples of old craftsmanship have found a new home. Visitors are inspired by the inscriptions to consider life and death in a pleasant and contemplative atmosphere.

BURG HASEGG MIT MÜNZTURM UND MÜNZMUSEUM

Hall, and ancient town, famous for its mint. Nowadays, the "Mint tower" houses a musuem which is undoubtedly very interesting for old and young.

INNSBRUCK

Animals of all sizes have found their home in the Alpine Zoo: the kinglet with its 5 grams is a real lightweight, whereas the Bearded Vulture with its 3 m wingspan is the largest bird of the Alps. KUFSTEIN FORTRESS

The stately Kufstein Fortress has long since secured itself a spot among the most popular trip destinations. HIKING THROUGH THE KUNDL GORGE - SUITABLE FOR PUSH CHAIRS AND WHEEL CHAIRS

The Kundler gorge is a popular destination for young and old. The wide trail leads us past bizarre and mighty rocks. The creek bed is also full of stones and the site of various geological rocks. On strong rainy days and from mid-November to late March, the gorge is closed for safety reasons! However, you can always walk in to the inn in the winter (if necessary also drive).

Winter Holidays in Tux & at the Hintertux Glacier

Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING

The sports facilities on offer in the Tuxertal include 14 km of classic cross-country ski runs from Vorderlanersbach to Madseit as well as a 14 km long track for the skating style in Juns and Madseit.

Please look out for the direction of the tracks! The tracks are maintained and provided for free by the tourism board of Tux-Finkenberg.

NATURAL PARK ZILLERTAL - A JEWEL IN THE ALPS

We are a member of High Alps Nature Park Zillertal Alps and thus our guests have the opportunity to join the attractive programme of the Nature Park.

The Nature Park stretches from about 1.000 m above sea level to 3.509 m over all the altitude leveles of the Central Alps. Depending on different factors just as altitude, exposure, geology or historical origin of individual sites the visitor will find different habitats as well as animal and plant species. Due to the vertical extent of the High Alps Nature Park the number of habitats, the flora and fauna is very large. Glaciers cover a considerable part of the Nature Park and have shaped the landscape from time immemorial. In addition to natural factors also the human being shapes today's natural and cultural landscape. His life and farming practices can be read in the landscape and create, especially in the Alps, a varying and romantic mountainous region.

The High Alps Nature Park offers a variety of opportunities for recreation. Either active in sports when hiking, climbing, mountain biking or delightful, unhurried on long walks through gorgeous and varied Nature Park landscape. Experience the features and secrets of the Nature Park on one of our tours in the summer programme. Around the top station of the Eggalm cable car at 1,950 metres, the brand-new children’s paradise “Almspielerei” (Alpine Games) offers a wealth of play areas just waiting to be put through their paces.

large lake with tug boat, a float and slackline, wooden alpine animals together with a plethora of diverse activities brings the promise of huge amounts of fun for the whole family, while becoming acquainted with the natural habitat of the “Alm” (alpine pasture).

A plentiful supply of loungers and a covered patio invite the parents to relax and savour the beauty of the panoramic mountains whilst their little ones let off steam at the “Almspielerei”. You can combine a visit in the new "Almspielerei" with the Eggalm Hiking Rally, where little hikers have to solve tricky puzzles and so they can get into the real hiking groove.
